New 75th Deluxe Anniversary Edition of The Martian Chronicles

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles, Harper Collins/ William Morrow will publish a special collector’s hardcover edition on July 15, 2025.

First published in 1950, The Martian Chronicles is one of Bradbury’s most influential works, an enduring portrait of humanity’s hopes and failures, told through the story of Earth’s colonization of Mars. The new edition honours the book’s legacy with a striking design that includes a new cover illustration by British artist Bill Bragg, elegant endpapers, and red ink-tipped pages in tribute to the world Bradbury imagined.

Harper Collins will also reissue two other Bradbury classics, The Illustrated Man and The October Country, each featuring new cover art by Bragg.

A landmark in speculative fiction, The Martian Chronicles helped define the literary shape of science fiction in the 20th century. Its influence continues to be felt across generations of writers, from Ursula K. Le Guin and Margaret Atwood to Stephen King and George R.R. Martin.

Fahrenheit 451 to be developed for the stage by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Martyna Majok.

More than seventy years after its first publication, Ray Bradbury’s seminal novel is being adapted for the stage by playwright Martyna Majok. Since its release in 1953, the novel has sold over 12 million copies worldwide and been translated into more than 58 languages and continues to captivate readers with its powerful and thought-provoking themes. Bradbury’s exploration of technology and censorship has proven timeless, resonating with new generations of readers around the world.

The Bradbury Estate have said “We are delighted to bring Fahrenheit 451 to a new audience, with the impact and intimacy that only theater can offer, to be working with producers who care so deeply for the work and with Martyna Majok, a truly great dramatist of enormous intelligence, sensitivity, and skill.”

Speaking about the adaptation, Majok said, “”The relevancy of mind domination and the end of the world in our current age needs no words; what struck me most in Fahrenheit 451 was its lens on our loneliness. How our yearning for connection and fear of its absence can be feasted upon. How we long to devote ourselves to something true and lasting in a fracturing society. And the ways we blow up our lives to unearth the truth we’ve buried – which will shatter us into our most honest selves. As Bradbury writes ‘We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in awhile.'”

Martyna Majok was born in Bytom, Poland, and raised in New Jersey and Chicago. She won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2018 for her Broadway debut play, Cost of Living, which was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play. Her works, including Sanctuary City, Queens, and Ironbound, have graced stages worldwide. Her accolades include a Guggenheim Fellowship, The Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award, and an Obie Award for Playwriting, among many others. Majok studied at Yale School of Drama, Juilliard, and the University of Chicago and has developed television projects for HBO as well as feature films with studios including Plan B, Pastel, and Killer Films.

Remembrance: Selected Correspondence of Ray Bradbury now available

On November 7th, readers will be able to dig deep into Remembrance, Jonathan R. Eller’s 528 page collection of correspondence to and by Ray Bradbury, a rich trove of letters that illuminate the private world of the visionary who moved science fiction into the literary mainstream and inspired generations of writers—and scientists—with his unbounded curiosity.  Although often labeled a science fiction writer, Bradbury’s most potent stories often deal with the sense of loneliness and loss inherent in being human and the desire to connect not only with others, but with the longings of our inner selves.  These letters offer a sustained look at the man behind the pen and typewriter, an inveterate letter writer who took the queries of his readers and aspiring writers seriously, cared deeply about the future and its connection to the past, and was not shy about expressing his opinions.

Bradbury scholar and biographer Jonathan R. Eller is perfectly positioned to curate this collection, having spent much of his career focused on preserving and defining Bradbury’s legacy. Co-founder of the Center for Ray Bradbury Studies at Indiana University’s School of Liberal Arts, where he served as director for over a decade, Eller’s access to unexplored documents and his long personal and professional relationships  with Bradbury  and the people who knew and worked with him enrich the selection and organization of what is certain to be an essential addition to any Bradbury collection.

Dr. Eller is Chancellor’s Professor Emeritus of English, Indiana University’s School of Liberal Arts. He serves on the editorial board of The New Ray Bradbury Review and is Senior Textual Editor in the Institute for American Thought. His most recent books include the biographical trilogy Becoming Ray Bradbury, Ray Bradbury Unbound, and Bradbury Beyond Apollo (Choice Outstanding Academic Title for 2021). He recently served as editor for The Library of America’s two volume set, The Bradbury Collection.
